OUR DIVISIONS
Opkyk Pathways offers a range of specialised programmes structured across three interconnected divisions. Each division supports learners with diverse abilities at different stages of their development, from early stimulation and adapted education to skills training and vocational participation. While learners may enter the centre at different points, the divisions work together to form a developmental pathway that promotes independence, inclusion, and long-term participation in the community.
Opkyk
The Opkyk division focuses on remedial learning and is dedicated to helping each learner reach their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment.
Learners at Opkyk follow a curriculum tailored to their individual needs. Some follow a specific grade, while others focus on selected subjects, including mathematics, science, technology, languages, and creative studies.
Depending on their abilities and interests, learners may also participate in elements of the Skills Training programme, gaining early exposure to practical and vocational skills.
The programme emphasises independence, communication, and social participation, preparing learners to engage meaningfully with their community.

One-on-one learning moments that build confidence, connection, and foundational skills.

Individualised learning focused on functional skills and meaningful understanding.
Pathways
The Pathways division is designed for children and young adults with more complex learning needs who require intensive, individualised support.
Learners follow programmes tailored to their abilities, ranging from basic stimulation and sensory integration to functional and life skills development. Classes are structured according to learner needs, with teacher-to-learner ratios adjusted to provide optimal support—sometimes as low as 1:1 for learners requiring intensive assistance.
While most Pathways learners focus on foundational skills, some are able to integrate into the Skills Training division, giving them opportunities to develop additional skills.
The focus is on sensory stimulation, early communication, social interaction, and foundational skills, giving children the confidence and preparation they need to function meaningfully in the community.
Skills Training
The Skills Training division supports learners in developing practical, creative, and vocational skills that promote independence and economic participation. It combines three complementary Spaces: the Studio, Kitchen and Workshop.
Skill Studio
The Studio focuses on creative and practical skills such as needlework, craft and other hands-on creative projects.

Skill Workshop
The Workshop focuses on woodworking, gardening, and other practical trades.

Skill Kitchen
The Kitchen focuses on cooking and baking, and safety and hygiene in food preperation.

Skill Shop
By participating in the Skills Training, learners gain practical experience, build confidence, and have the opportunity to contribute to real products and services.
Skills Training prepares learners for meaningful engagement with the wider community and, for some, micro-enterprise participation through the Skill Shop.

Creative skills development through hands-on projects that build fine motor skills and confidence.
