Who we serve
The Pathways Programme serves children and young adults with diverse abilities who require intensive support due to complex physical, intellectual, or developmental needs. Many learners benefit from a highly structured environment with a strong emphasis on routine, consistency, and individual care.
Learners may have limited communication abilities, mobility challenges, or require ongoing assistance with daily activities. Each learner’s programme is designed to support their unique abilities, promote engagement, and uphold dignity at every stage of development.

Hard at work — but always ready with a friendly smile for the camera.
Programme Focus & Learning Approach
Pathways is structured into small groups, each designed to meet the specific needs of its learners. Programmes range from basic stimulation and sensory integration to functional and life skills development, depending on each learner’s abilities and developmental goals.
Learning is highly individualised, with activities adapted to support communication, mobility, self-care, and social interaction.
Foundational concepts such as early numeracy, communication, life skills, and creative expression are introduced in meaningful, functional ways that support daily living and independence.
Support Structure
The Pathways Programme maintains flexible teacher-to-learner ratios based on individual needs. In some classes, a one-to-one support model is provided to ensure safety, engagement, and meaningful progress, while in others small group settings allow for supported interaction and shared learning.
A multidisciplinary team of educators, facilitators, and therapists works collaboratively to support each learner. Therapeutic input, including occupational therapy, speech and language support, and other specialised services, is incorporated according to individual needs, ensuring holistic and responsive care.
Outcomes & Impact
Through participation in the Pathways Programme, learners develop increased engagement, communication, and functional independence according to their individual abilities. Progress may include improved sensory regulation, mobility, self-care, and the ability to participate more actively in daily routines.
Learners are supported to express preferences, interact socially, and engage meaningfully with their environment. For some learners, participation in Pathways may also open opportunities for limited integration into Opkyk or Skills Training activities, where appropriate, further supporting confidence and inclusion.
Applied Learning & Enrichment Opportunities
Learners in the Pathways Programme benefit from additional experiences that support their development beyond the classroom:
-
Participation in therapies as needed, including occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and equine-assisted (horse riding) therapy.
-
Engagement in practical and creative activities, offering early exposure to Skills Training projects where appropriate.
-
Opportunities for social interaction and collaboration, fostering communication, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
-
Hands-on experiences that support functional independence and daily life skills, reinforcing what is learned in the classroom.
